A 58-kilometre journey over two days, from Angoulême to Cognac along the Charente River, one of the most peaceful waterways in France, with an overnight stop in Jarnac. You will follow the historic route of the gabares, the traditional flat-bottomed boats that once carried cognac, paper and building materials downstream to Rochefort and its naval arsenal, before returning inland laden with fish, salt and spices.
